Loch bhac
Where: Glen Garry and Allean Forest
Distance: Between 8.0 miles (12.9 km) and 11.0 miles (17.7 km)
Grade: Moderate
Terrain: Mix of public roads, farm tracks, forest roadways, rough footpaths, moorland, and open fields
Transport: Buses to Struan, and buses and trains from Blair Atholl
Starting in Struan, with a chance to visit the dramatic Falls of Struan, the quiet fishing lake of Loch Bhac can be reached after a steady climb across fields, through woodland, and over moors to the edge of Allean Forest. The shorter return route offers distant views of Blair Castle, Carn Liath and Ben Vrackie, whilst the longer return route goes deeper into the forest to pass through the upper reaches of Glen Fincastle and, eventually, a fairly rapid descent through birch woods into Blair Atholl.
