Transport: Buses to and from Blair Castle and Bridge of Tilt, and buses and trains to and from Blair Atholl

Glen Tilt forms part of a very long distance route from Blair Atholl to Braemar. It also played a crucial role in scientific advance as it is the location of the site where James Hutton found evidence for his theories of geology in 1785. This site, at the waterfalls just beyond Forest Lodge, can be reached by extending this walk along the estate road at Gaw’s Bridge for a further round trip distance of 5.0 miles (8.0 km). Opting instead to use the bridge as the turning point, this walk traverses both sides of the lower reaches of the glen through farmland and forest with views of hills in the now mainly treeless Forest of Atholl.
